Wootage!

Just managed to kick some dragonmaw ass 5 levels above me and manage to stay alive!

Also I get onto the clansite on Wednesday and I've been awarded a Member of the Month! Now if only I didn't have more than 15 sodding quests to do I'd be ok...

I would like to play WoW just to see how it compares to Warcraft III's style. I would also like an MMORPG that I could spend alot of time exploring. Though, I would rather not sit around and bash stuff for a long time to gain a level. Though I've done this a few times in Presearing before.. It can be fun.

It's also like the closest thing to the Star Wars Galaxies gameplay now that it's dead >.>

I got my main Mage from lvl 24 to 28 in the last day and a half. Keeping up with the new skills is damn expensive. The last batch cost 63s per... had to blow about 3g. How on earth am I going to affond my mount?

I'm gonna put in my 2 cents because I'm at work and have nothing better to do.
I was so against wow when i first got gw it wasnt even funny. Then i actually played it, wow is just a totally different game, and honestly i havent went back to gw since. actually i have for like 3 minutes then logged onto wow.
Its funny reading all the posts, one guy tried to be a hard-ass and got laughed out, havent seen him back.
Everyone complaining about the monthly fee, come on, are you that cheap or you just cant give up mcdonalds for 3 whole days. Or what is .50 cents a day, if you have fun does it matter? So what Blizzard is making a killing, so is every other big business, thats what they do, make money. stop being so selfish that its wrong for them to provide a service and you have to pay for it.
The graphics are an issue? If you want real graphics go to a costume shop and rent a king arthur outfit and dress your dog up with a cute dragon suit and have at'em killer, theres realistic graphics for you.
but who am i, thats whats so great about free will, i choose to play a game i enjoy, pay a monthly fee for, have fun playing and enjoy the graphic. No one is holding a gun to my head to play a certain amount of time to get 1 more lvl. Its called the log out feature. really easy to use. whatever see you guys on wow. here comes the flames...

i better watch out all the w/m, e/? and m/w that all look the same will come get me.... i guess i'll just stealth and..wait wrong game

the equivalent of $169 dollars a year for a sub in the UK isn't exactly something to be sneezed at really...

I agree. For that price you can purchase 4-5 new PC games! Or many more used PC games.

I'm currently downloading the free trial for warcraft and hoping i can find a valid payment method if i decide i like the game.
Credit cards are a no no and if i can't buy payment cards, then i'm stuck.

930MB downloaded so far, lol. (my connection died at 238MB earlier...frustrating, especially when in a fileplanet queue of 30 minutes aswell!)

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS ENTIRELY IN MY OPINION AND IF YOU DISAGREE FEEL FREE TO DISCUSS IT IN A POLITE AND MATURE CONVERSATION

Just thought I had to chime in and give you my view on WoW. Now, I don't have GW yet, so I'm not gonna go about comparing the games.

I have 1 level 60 character (Undead Mage) which I worked pretty hard on and several other characters in their 20s and a bit upwards. Anyway, I've played my fair share of hours of this game and I decided to leave not too long ago

Why I left (for those who care):

Because Mage's was and still are so incredibly ignored by Blizzard.
If you ever played the game until 60 and onwards and more specificially if you've played a caster (mage especially) you will know what I'm talking about. The Mage is screwed over at 60. Caster itemization is bollocks. While a Warrior, Rogue etc can get 1 sword from an instance and thus increasing their DPS massively. Mages and other casters are stuck at 60 with the same level of DPS. The only way of doing more damage or increasing your DPS is to get + SPELLPOWER items which will give you a HP of about 2000 and a MANA of about 2500 (normal, depending on build is, 3000-4500 HP and 5000-10000 MANA). When most of the classes can crit +2k you understand that low HP hurts in PVP. Now, of course I could start a new class but I couldn't bring myself to spend 3 months of leveling up another one because of the other bad points of the game. I can go on about other problems with Mages such as only be able to create 4 bottles of Crystal Water at one time (annoying when you need 500 for UBRS ><) , that our designed "class set" sucked worse than Tetris and so>

After you ding 60 it's just a grind for money/items. Let me just get this straight right away: IF YOU WANT TO BE COMPETITIVE AFTER 60 YOU HAVE TO SPEND AT LEAST 5 HOURS A DAY TO PLAY! All you can do after 60 is to run the several high level instances or PVP. If you want to get good stuff/good rank you need to play several hours a day. Now, I just play for fun as I expect all of you to do, but spending +5 hrs in Lower Black Rock Spire to get a shitty document that spawns randomly is not my type of fun. Before 60 it was a real enjoyable experience. Most instances took about 1-2 hours and you almost always had a good time. But as soon as you hit 60 and played through all the instances a couple of times you get tired of it. That's why you PVP! Yeah right:

Nothing good came out of the Honor System. Ganking was pretty bad in Tarren Mill/South Shore before but that was only because level 60 people didn't have anything better to do. After the Honor system when you get REWARDED FOR GANKING (not talking about a level 60 killing a level 12 because that gave no reward, but a lvl 60 killing a lvl 48 gave as much points as a level 60 killing a level 60). My god. At least the Battlegrounds was made for a clear purpose, to eliminate ganking. Unfortunately it didn't but it was a good effort. However, the Battlegrounds face some serious problems with the foremost being that only can you be competitive in the level 60 arena if you have the best pvp stuff or the best stuff outside of pvp rewards (class set + epics). There's no other way. And that is sad. I really enjoyed PVP before Honor+Battlegrounds (TM/SS spam and 1 v 1).

Way too many kids. I'm only 17 but I know that "crai m00r nub" when you own someone 12 levels lower than you isn't the way to go. I met some truly retarded persons, like the hunter who thought the epic sword in MC would be good for him (hint: no it wouldn't. it's a mage sword you twat). THERE WERE NICE PERSONS THOUGH, but the retards tend to stick out and finally I got sick of it. I do realise that this is the problem with most games though. I just had to point it out because someone earlier in this thread said that most were mature and polite.

WoW for me in three words:

Gear
Frustrating
Non-casual

To conclude this fairly long post (sorry about that), I would like to say that I really enjoyed WoW until I dinged 60 and did all the instances over and over and realised that Blizzard had screwed my class royally and that they weren't fixing it. The nail in the coffin was when I was doing the Onyxia key quest (first part in LBRS) and you have to retrieve a friggin document. It's a 5 hour quest if you go through the whole quest and finally after the 5 hours I was gonna get my document. So I clicked on it and started to picking it up (there's actually a loading bar that goes on for like 10 secs before you can pick it up). When only 1 second remained, Blizzard decided to flush the server would be a good idea (flush = restart due to some lag/bug in WSG). I cancelled my account right after that.

I'm actually thinking of going back but I might as well pick up GW instead. Haven't decided yet.

If you do decide to play WoW, which I have nothing against: it's your money after all, make sure that you have the time to spare and don't play a Mage . Because there are some good points of WoW though but I felt they've been brought up already.

WoW is pretty time consuming once you hit 60. That's why I left.

I decided to quit the free download. The damn connection got severed again at 1.1GB!
5 hours wasted, lol.

Instead, i am buying WoW tomorrow...actually my girlfriend is getting it for me in around 9 hours.

The sound of grind, mining, SOLOING, and levelling has caught my attention.
I've already spent a full day watching trailers and reading everything i can find.

It's a long time until chapter two and i need something more than language updates to keep my attention until then.

Senedai, thanks for confirming my every impression of WoW - I'm glad I never went that route. At least GW isn't as much about the grind since everyone caps at level 20. From that point on it's mostly your creativity and skill (which you'll develop from playing) that pays off.

While I don't have any lvl 60's yet (just two 2X's) I can say without question that one thing has improved my experience more than anything else... a great guild. In my guild there is almost always 20+ people on, we swap items we don't need (minerals, cloth, etc.), and getting groups together for instances is a breeze. And when you're tired of adventuring, heck... you can get sit around and shoot the breeze with them while you work on your fishing skills.

The problem with WoW is the same problem with GW. If your goal is to ALWAYS be the best, have the best, and play the best... you will get frustrated. But if you're content to just have a good time, a good time can certainly be had.
